WordPress Updates in Mall Cockpit (mc_helper)

The mc_helper plugin can significantly streamline the backend. The following rules apply for installation and updates:

Core & Plugins via the Standard UI

If a user has the capability update_core or update_plugins (typically an Administrator), the Dashboard and Plugins menu remain visible in the restricted context (Center selected, role cm / mec-admin) – thus allowing access to “Dashboard → Update” and plugins.php.

Users without these capabilities will still not see the Dashboard/Plugins menu in this context and can continue to use the short list under Mall Cockpit → Plugins (?page=mallcockpit_plugins).

Admin Bar

The notification for pending updates may appear in the upper Admin Bar (WordPress standard).

Deployment Note

Updates via the UI require that the server has write access to files (e.g., FS_METHOD / permissions) and that no other constants like DISALLOW_FILE_MODS block the update.
