Tool recommendations as of: July 2026 — image models change quickly; when unsure, use the hybrid docs and the dashboard segmentation preview as your benchmark.
What's new in v2
- Topology vs. geometry clarified — the center plan is primarily a wayfinding tool, not a to-scale floor plan. The prompt now explicitly distinguishes what must be taken 1:1 from the reference plan (order, adjacency, intersections, entrances/exits, escalator/elevator position, no mirroring) and what may be adjusted for readability (corridor proportions, small angles, shop shapes).
- Updated tool recommendations — DALL·E was removed from the OpenAI API in May 2026. New primary choices for an existing floor plan: ChatGPT (GPT Image 2) and Nano Banana Pro (Google). Midjourney/Ideogram remain good for free concepts without an existing plan.
- Image role declaration — when multiple images (SVG plan, environment shot, top view, detail photos) are attached, the prompt assigns each image an explicit role.
- Anti-texture-bleed rule — prevents materials/reflections from detail photos being transferred onto (flat, solid) shop roofs.
- Corner color rule — derived from background detection (median of four image corners). Without it, segmentation can fail completely if a roof lands in a corner.
- Quantified color distance between adjacent roofs instead of qualitative wording only.
- Compactness note for long narrow anchor tenants (segmenter's aspect-ratio/compactness filters).
- Iterative workflow step — uses ChatGPT/Nano Banana Pro edit-in-same-chat instead of a single one-shot prompt.
- Multi-floor consistency — escalators/elevators aligned across floors.

Topology (binding) vs. geometry (creative freedom)
The center plan is first and foremost an orientation/wayfinding tool, not a to-scale floor plan. What matters is that visitors — at the in-mall kiosk/signage and on the website — can follow a path from A to B, not that every wall is at the exact angle.
Binding — take 1:1 from the reference plan, NEVER change:
- Outer building outline (must match parking, street, transit outside)
- Order and adjacency of shops along each corridor
- Number and position of entrances/exits relative to the outside world
- Escalator/elevator position — must stack exactly across floors (physical exit point)
- Number and order of intersections, branches, dead ends
- Left/right orientation — NEVER mirror (otherwise the kiosk map points the wrong way while the visitor stands in front of it)
Creative freedom — may be adjusted for readability:
- Straighten or normalize corridor width/length ratios
- Smooth minor angular asymmetries
- Adjust shop proportions slightly (e.g. render very elongated anchors more compact) as long as position along the corridor and adjacency stay the same — also helps with the auto-segmenter's aspect-ratio/compactness filters
Rule of thumb: At the kiosk, visitors compare the map live with what they see. A straightened curve rarely confuses. A missing branch or swapped left/right actively sends people the wrong way — topology is hard, geometry is soft.

Midjourney warning: Reference images act more like style inspiration than exact geometric templates — not ideal as the primary tool for architect floor plans.

Workflow (editorial)
- Prepare reference: Existing floor plan (SVG/PDF/sketch) as topology reference; optionally environment image, 1–3 top-view references, and 2–4 on-site detail shots for style/material. Note entrance/north orientation from wayfinding master data if available.
- Submit prompt + images in ChatGPT (GPT Image 2) or Nano Banana Pro. Declare image roles in the prompt (see master prompt). Generate several variants.
- Iterate in the same chat: Instead of one final prompt, refine — e.g. "Recolor shop X roof, too similar to neighbor" or "Remove reflection on roofs top right".
- Review: Clear shop contours? Solid roofs, no texture transfer from detail photos? All four corners = background? No merged shops? Resolution sufficient (upscale if needed)?
- Multi-floor centers: Keep escalators/elevators aligned across floors (reference in prompt or adjust manually).
- Cockpit: Upload image, recognition type AI-generated plan (or Normal plan); Small areas for tiny units; draw missing shops in the Polygon Editor.
- Save → assign shops → check website.

Create a premium architectural shopping mall directory image for an interactive wayfinding system (hybrid center plan). Style blend: Apple Maps 3D, Westfield digital directory, Foster + Partners diagrams, high-end real estate visualization, modern retail wayfinding – NOT a traditional 2D floor plan, NOT a blueprint, NOT cartoon.
INPUT IMAGES (assign roles when multiple images are attached):
- Image 1 – SVG/vector floor plan: BINDING topology reference (see TOPOLOGY VS. GEOMETRY rule below). This version is optimized for cockpitOS Hybrid:
- Segmentation over pure marketing render — roof surfaces must be machine-readable.
- Separator lines or different colors — flood-fill otherwise merges similar adjacent shops.
- No logos on roofs — shop logos come from Cockpit.
- Landscape + minimum resolution — matches website immersive mode and zoom.
- “Near orthographic” instead of strictly orthographic — more stable AI results.
- Reference floor plan as input — without it, the AI drifts.
- Image role declaration for multi-image input — prevents layout/camera being taken from the wrong reference.
- Explicit texture-bleed ban — detail photos for corridors only, never roofs.
